Healthy Whole Healed

Sometimes the depth of our dysfunction and sin can be so great that when healthy/godly relationships or healthy/godly patterns try to enter our lives, we push them away. When we become so comfortable in dysfunction and sin, being ‘healthy” and “whole” becomes very uncomfortable and foreign to us. But who ever said the road to healing, the road to wholeness, the road to healthy, and the road to holiness would be easy? What if the discomfort we are avoiding can be the very path to our redemptive healing?

It takes courage to rewrite the scrip. It takes courage to follow God. It takes courage to break bad habits.  It takes courage to be vulnerable enough to embrace sincere, godly, and genuine relationships in your life. It takes courage to stand up for right. It takes courage to embrace the truth of who God says you are. It takes courage to end a relationship that is toxic for your soul. It takes courage to love you. I mean REALLY love you, with no level of dependency for others tied to that. It takes courage to tell family members, friends, and even “yourself” that you are not willing to condone lies, sinful behavior, or unhealthy generational patterns. It takes courage not to depend on the attention of others to determine your significance or worth. It takes courage to spend time to work on yourself…those broken, unhealed, and not so pretty parts of yourself. You see, being healthy, whole, and healed takes courage. Not only does it take courage, but it requires work. REAL WORK! Work that you have to consistently perform. Work that you must put effort into.

Don’t believe the lie that love doesn’t cost. Don’t believe the lie that real, honest relationships are easy. Don’t believe the lie that healthy and holy means you’re always going to be comfortable. Don’t believe the lie that the Christian life is free of suffering and pain. Jesus was willing to be EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE to love us and save us. If Jesus did it, so can we. Jesus paved the way so we could be healthy, whole, holy, and healed. He was willing to suffer. He was willing to put in the tireless amounts of work. He was willing to endure pain. He was will willing to give up everything, even his own life so we could have a chance to be saved! He serves not only as our Savior, but as our Example. He showed us that every day you have to make a choice to follow the Father’s will. But he also showed us that following the Father’s will is always worth it, even if it is not easy. For it is through the Heavenly Father’s will that we can have hope to being healthy, whole, and healed.

“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”

-1 Peter 2:21-24

I write these words to encourage you. I want you to know you deserve real love. You deserve genuine relationships. You deserve to be healthy and whole. Don’t settle for dysfunction just because it’s comfortable. Don’t settle for dysfunctional and sinful habits because you’ve always done it. Don’t settle for dysfunctional or sinful relationships just because those people have always been there. Don’t settle for dysfunctional and sinful ways of living just because you’ve always lived that way.

Don’t settle for dysfunction or sin period.

God did not make you to be dysfunctional or sinful.

He made you to be whole and to be complete in Him.

He made you to be functional, holy, set-apart, and fully alive in Him.

The honest truth is this: The road to being healthy, whole, and healed can be very challenging at times. The road to being healthy, whole, and healed may require some tears and dark nights. The road to becoming healthy, whole, and healed may feel overwhelming at times. The road to becoming healthy, whole, and healed will get hard, but don’t give up on yourself. Most importantly don’t give up on God. Allow God to perform His marvelous work in your life. Trust that He can make you into all He has called you to be. Trust in what Jesus our Savior did on the cross. He bleed. He suffered. He endured. He fought for our healing and for our wholeness. Every drop of blood he expelled on the cross was for our redemption. Every tear he cried, was for our healing. And his death was for our completion! It is through Jesus and his death, burial, and resurrection that we can be HOLY, HEALTHY, AND HEALED. Through Him we find our WHOLENESS! What an astounding hope we have because of Him!

God is faithful.

God has not left you alone.

You are loved by Him.

You are valued by Him.

You are His precious treasure.

Fight to be who He made you to be.

Don’t give up on your yourself because Jesus hasn’t given up on you.

The cross proves it.

Fight to be…Healthy, Whole, & Healed.

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”-1 Peter 5:10-11

With love,
